Getting started
Who is Governly for?
Governly is built for the people who run public meetings and the staff who prepare them. Today that means school boards and districts; we're expanding to city & county commissions, with nonprofit boards on the roadmap. Board members and commissioners use Governly's meeting prep tools to prepare to vote; the staff who build the agenda use Governly's agenda prep tools to strengthen items before they're published.
How long does it take to get running?
Most organizations are up before their next meeting — whether you're a school board, a city or county commission, or rolling out to both staff and members at once. Your Governly coach handles setup and gets each agenda loaded into the platform for you, so it's ready to go ahead of the meeting.
Do users need training?
No special training required. The analysis is waiting when anyone logs in — whether they're a board member, commissioner, or staff preparer — and your coach walks the team through it. The interface is built for people who govern, not for software specialists.
How it works
Does Governly replace our agenda software?
No. Your current software organizes the packet; Governly reads it. It works alongside the system your board or commission already uses — when the agenda is published, Governly ingests the documents and attachments and produces the analysis.
What does Governly actually produce for each item?
It depends on who's using it. For board members and commissioners, Meeting Prep produces — for every agenda item — a plain-language summary, a fiscal overview, a stakeholder impact assessment, a policy analysis against your adopted policies, and the questions the item is likely to draw. Members can also chat with the packet, draft remarks, and build a personal prep sheet. For the staff who build the agenda, Agenda Prep runs that same analysis before items are published, so gaps, fiscal questions, and policy conflicts surface while there's still time to address them.
Security & data
Where does our data live, and who can see it?
Your documents live in an environment isolated to your organization. Analysis generated for your organization is available only to your organization, and access is governed by role-based permissions. You decide who can see and do what, and our team's access to your content is limited to what's needed to deliver and support the service. We regularly backup data to be able to restore systems in the event of an outage.
Is our data encrypted?
Yes, data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Traffic to and from Governly is protected with industry-standard transport encryption, and stored data is encrypted on disk. Governly follows industry standard security best practices including the use of 3rd party services and tools to help ensure your data remains secure.
Is our data isolated?
Yes, Governly implements a multi-tenant architecture which stores data by customer. Access controls enforce authorization to data such that members of other organizations, or unauthorized roles, are prevented from accessing other customer's data.
How is our data used?
Your information is used only to produce analysis for your organization. It is never sold or shared for advertising or any unrelated purpose. Processing is limited to delivering the Governly service to you. For the full picture — what we collect, how it's shared, and your rights — see our Privacy Policy.
How is AI used?
Governly is designed to inform human decisions, not replace them. Every AI output is grounded in your actual agenda and policy documents and is traceable to source material. The AI flags considerations and surfaces context. We use a variety of 'frontier' LLM models depending on the task or client preferences. For a full breakdown — providers, what your content is and isn't used for, and the human oversight behind every output — see our AI Transparency page.

Pricing & rollout
How much does Governly cost?
Pricing is tailored to the size and needs of your organization, and includes setup and coaching. See how pricing works, or bring a real agenda to a demo and we'll scope the right fit.
We're a commission, not a school board — can we use it?
Yes — Governly is expanding to city & county commissions now. The same engine that runs in large school districts is being shaped to ordinances, resolutions, and hearings. A demo is the best way to start.
